ANTI-RAGGING POLICY & COMMITTEE

(Building Respectful Communities)

In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 8.05.2009 and in consideration of the determination of the Central Government and the University Grants Commission to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging.

Anti ragging committee is an active unit in Vijaya College of Nursing to create awareness regarding ragging and its consequences among the students. Our college is a ragging free campus by the collaborative effort of anti-ragging committees and anti-ragging squad.

ANTIRAGGING COMMITTEE

  • The College shall constitute an “Anti-Ragging Committee” in the Chairmanship of the Principal at the beginning of every academic year.
  • This Committee shall be fully responsible to ensure that no incidence of ragging, monitor and ensure that the instructions of these regulations are followed fully at all points of time.

ANTI-RAGGING SQUAD

  • The function of Anti-Ragging Squad will include taking around, patrolling the College and the common areas in the academic/administrative/hostel/mess of the College, maintain vigil at all times on all days by rotation as decided by Principal and take action if they notice any incidence of ragging either in their Campus.
  • The Squads will also have the responsibility wherever required to investigate incidence of ragging and to report to the Anti-Ragging Committee.
  • On the report of Anti-ragging Squad or any other person who is the witness of the incidence of ragging or on the complaint of any student, immediate action will be taken by the Anti- Ragging Committee to decide appropriate punishment from the list of punishments prescribed under the Rules and award it with intimation to the College Authorities.

MEASURES UNDERTAKEN TO PREVENT RAGGING IN CAMPUS

Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging in the campus or even outside the campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments

  • Debarring from appearing in any Sessional / University Examination
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
  • Withdrawing scholarships and other benefits
  • Suspension from the college for a period of one month
  • If needed will be debarred from the college
